There are many things you can do to proactively monitor and protect your private information.

Consider Freezing Your Credit

A credit freeze restricts access to your credit report. If you suspect your personal information or identity was stolen, placing a credit freeze can help protect you from fraud.

If you place a credit freeze, creditors will not be able to approve any new credit account in your name, even if the account is legitimate. To let lenders access your credit files again, the credit freeze must be lifted permanently or temporarily.

To freeze or lift the freeze on your credit report, free of charge, contact all three major credit reporting agencies (each must be contacted individually):

Protect Personal Information

Don’t respond to emails, texts, or telephone calls asking for personal or financial information.

Update PINs and passwords, including email passwords, and follow best practices (i.e., using long and complex phrases, and never re-using passwords).

Shred your mail containing account information, your date of birth, Social Security number, or other personal information.

Update Security Settings

Update your security settings to install security patches on your web browsers routinely.

Use trusted links to a company’s website and never click on a link in a suspicious email.

Be Cautious with Emails

Never open an attachment in an email unless you know the sender and scan the attachment with anti-virus software first.

Never give out your banking information, or link accounts in which you are not an owner for the purposes of transferring money between accounts.

Avoid sending money to someone you don’t know or have never met in person.

Verify Funds and Use Strong Passwords

If you have any doubt if you should accept funds such as a check, money order, or wire, call the financial institution the funds are coming from or drawn on first.

Never use passwords that are easy to guess. Examples of bad passwords are: birth dates, first names, pet names, addresses, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, etc.

Never reveal your password to another person. You should periodically change your password in online banking.

Enable Multi-Factor Authentication

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a multi-step account login process that requires users to enter more information than just a password for extra security. Quorum requires MFA on your member account, but you have the option further enhance your security by enabling MFA for each login; this requires you to always validate your identity through one of the two-factor authentication methods (email or SMS text), regardless if the system recognizes the your device and IP address. To require two-factor authentication for each login:

  1. Log in to online banking.
  2. Select your profile icon located at the top right corner of the page.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Select the Security tab.
  5. Locate the Two-Factor Authentication section and toggle “Require Two-Factor
  6. Authentication for Each Login” to ON.

A safe place to put
your money.

This is a safe place to put your money. They have very proactive fraud prevention systems that I am impressed with. Recently, I moved a large amount of money that is going towards the purchase of a car and my account not only required a code, but I received a phone call within a half hour of my transaction from one of their professionals, Savannah. She politely quizzed me, and from every angle may I say, to establish that it was indeed me who was working within my account. The savings and CD rates are great also and, their website works like clockwork. Thank you, Quorum, for being the best!

Glad we found
Quorum.

Quorum is great. We feel so much more secure with a federal credit union than a commercial bank. Great staff at customer service are always patient and helpful. Rates on interest bearing accounts are great too. Website is user friendly. Info is clear and precise. Glad we found Quorum.

them an A+

I have been with this Credit Union for 12 or 13 years. For security, I give them an A+. Customer service is very helpful. Happy customer.

Member Service Team was really helpful in assisting me!

We are back from a cruise tour in the U.S. and Canada. During our vacation, my debit card was blocked (nearly a financial disaster). I called Quorum and got great help, first from Kevin B. After telling him my story, he transferred me to the Fraud Department. Unfortunately, they could not help, as I had one important piece of personal information that was not available. I called Quorum again and got Ebony. Ebony did a super job; she called the Fraud Department and convinced them I'm not a debit card fraudster. Thank you very much for your time and tremendous help, Ebony. Last, but not least, a thank you to Savannah. Coming back from Canada to the U.S., I emailed Quorum asking for support for another debit card alert and Savannah took care of that. Overall, the Member Service Team was really helpful in assisting me!

Very polite and professional.

The representative that I had the pleasure to talk with today took her time; she used safety measures to make sure I was who I said I was; very polite and professional.

This Credit Union quickly became my bank!

This credit union quickly became my bank! What started with a low-interest first mortgage refinance has turned into a first mortgage, two credit cards, a high yield savings account, fee free checking account and a checking reserve account. I pay all my bills via the online bill payment and even send physical checks from my online checking account to the landscaper and others. Member support is beyond expectation and the mobile app is robust and user friendly. Great work Quorum!

Simply amazing.

I recently experienced an unexpected and shocking attempt to compromise my Quorum accounts online. Upon discovering this attempt, I called Quorum to investigate what was happening. Over a four-day period I spoke to numerous Quorum representatives. All were unfailingly attentive, empathetic, helpful and supportive. They answered all my questions, suggested solutions and options and listened carefully and compassionately. In short, they were simply amazing and I am eternally grateful.

Have been a faithful and delighted customer.

I joined Quorum in 1998 and have been a faithful, and delighted customer since. Any issue I have experienced has always been handled with respect, knowledge and follow-through. Can't give them enough high praise. Today I was contacted by Quorum so they could personally update me on a specific change in their policy that may affect me. What other company takes the time and consideration to do that? I don't know of any other. Adisa was the Quorum representative who contacted me. Her approachability and the fact that she consistently asked if I was comfortable in giving answers to the requests for information from me made me feel safe and comfortable. Any business who employs someone of Adisa's caliber is worthy of all my banking business! Thank you, Quorum... you guys really are The Best!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Quorum doing to protect my personal and financial information and what should I be doing too?

Quorum is committed to the safety and security of our members’ personal and financial information.

All companies face cybersecurity risks and those risks are ever evolving. We have security measures in place to help protect against these risks to keep your data safe. In the event Quorum is affected by a cybersecurity incident and personal data is involved, we will notify the affected members in accordance with regulatory requirements.

We encourage you to stay vigilant as well. Some ways you can do this include staying alert to phishing scams, using strong passwords, opting into two-factor authentication when available, avoiding unsecured public Wi-Fi, keeping devices up-to-date, and monitoring your accounts regularly through account alerts and by reviewing transactions and activity. If you see charges or activity that you did not authorize, contact the relevant financial institution or credit bureau immediately.  Additional information regarding steps you can take to protect your identity (including placing fraud alerts or a credit freeze) can be found on the Federal Trade Commission’s website at: https://consumer.ftc.gov/.

Your account security is our top priority.

That’s why Quorum has invested in the best security features and systems to ensure your private information remains private. Where can I read more about Quorum’s online banking security policies, including encryption level and authorization?

Privacy

The privacy of the communications between you (your browser) and our website is ensured using encryption. The industry standard encryption for all websites is TLS; a TLS certificate (also known as an “SSL certificate”) is installed on the website server. This certificate ensures secure communication between clients (such as web browsers) and the server. It establishes a secure conversation between you (your browser) and Quorum’s website when you navigate there via a browser. Look for the lock in the upper right corner usually next to the website name. This lock icon ensures that your connection to the site is secure and encrypted.

Read more about TLS encryption here.

Security and Browser Support

We provide a number of additional security features in online banking. Online banking will “timeout” after a specified period of inactivity. This is designed to prevent potential fraudulent activity from continuing your online banking session in case you have left your PC unattended without logging out. However, we recommend that you always sign-off (log out) when you are done with your online banking. It is important to point out that the computers that store your actual account information are not connected to the Internet. Our online banking Web servers receive the transactions that you initiate through the Internet. These Web servers route your transaction through firewall servers, which act as a traffic cop between segments of our online banking network used to store information, and the public Internet. This configuration isolates the publicly accessible Web servers from data stored on our online banking servers and ensures that only authorized requests are processed. Various access control mechanisms, including intrusion detection and anti-virus, monitor for and protect our systems from potential malicious activity. Additionally, our online banking servers are fault-tolerant, and provide for uninterrupted access, even in the event of various types of failures.

Please visit our Browser Support page to check if your web browser is supported in online and mobile banking.

Encryption Level

The numbers used as encryption keys are analogous to combination locks. The strength of encryption is based on the number of possible combinations that a lock can have. As the number of possible combinations grows, it becomes less likely that anyone would be able to guess the combination in order to decrypt the message. Today’s browsers offer 40-bit encryption, or 128-bit encryption. Although both result in a large number of possible combinations (240 and 2128 respectively), for your protection, our servers require the browser to connect at 128-bit encryption. Users will be unable to access online banking functions at lesser encryption levels. This may require some end users to upgrade their browser to the stronger encryption level in order to access online banking functions.

If your browser does not support 128-bit encryption, you will need to upgrade to a browser that does in order to continue to access secure pages of the website.

Authorization

It is also important to verify that only authorized persons log into online banking. This is achieved by verifying your password. When you submit your password, it is compared with the password we have stored in our secure data center. We allow you to enter your password incorrectly a limited number of times. If you enter your password incorrectly too many times, your online banking account will be locked (please follow these instructions to reset your password and regain access). We monitor and record “bad-login” attempts to detect any suspicious activity (i.e., someone trying to guess your password). You play a crucial role in preventing others from logging on to your account. Never use passwords that are easy to guess. Examples of bad passwords are: Birth dates, first names, pet names, addresses, phone numbers, social security numbers, etc. Never reveal your password to another person. You should periodically change your password in online banking.

Your account security is our top priority.

That’s why Quorum has invested in the best security features and systems to ensure your private information remains private. We run intrusion detection and anti-virus monitoring to protect our systems from potential malicious activity, require identity authorization to log in to online banking, and more!

    Is Zelle® safe and secure?

Yes. No sensitive account details are shared when you send and receive money with Zelle® – only an email address or U.S. mobile number tied to a bank account in the U.S. Authentication and monitoring features are in place to help make your payments secure, but, pay it safe: Only use Zelle® with people you trust, and always make sure you are using the correct mobile number or email address!

Here’s how to pay it safe:

Only send money to those you trust: Zelle® should only be used with friends, family and others you trust. Why? Because you can’t cancel a payment once it’s been sent, if the recipient is already enrolled with Zelle®. And if you send money to someone you don’t know, or you do not get what you expected, you may not get your money back.

Treat Zelle® like cash: While Zelle® and cash are certainly different, both provide the recipient with fast access to the money you send. With Zelle®, money moves directly into the enrolled recipient’s bank account within minutes1. And again, once you authorize a payment to be sent, you can’t cancel it if the recipient is already enrolled.

Beware of payment scams: If an offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is. For example, a stranger selling online concert tickets at a steep discount and insisting you pay with Zelle® may be a scam. Zelle® does not offer a protection program for authorized payments, so pay it safe. Only send money to people you personally know and trust.

Confirm your recipient’s contact information: Make sure you have the correct U.S. mobile phone number or email address for the person you want to send money to. When in doubt, contact your friend to double check. If you authorize a payment to be sent to the wrong person, you may not get your money back.

Understand your payment options: If you don’t know a person or aren’t sure you’ll get what you paid for, using your credit card may be a better payment option. Many credit card companies offer built-in buyer protections for cardholders. Check the terms and conditions of your credit card to see what’s offered. Unlike a credit card, Zelle® does not offer a protection program for any authorized payments made with Zelle® – for example, if you do not receive the item or the item is not as described or as you expected.

    Security Reminder from Quorum:
To protect the security of your account and your identity, please be alert of scammers and phishing attempts, and remember that Quorum would never call or contact you to ask you for the following information:

    • Your online banking credentials
    • Your Quorum Federal Credit Union member number
    • Your social security number or date of birth
    • Your personal identification number (PIN) to your card
    • We will never refer you to a website other than Quorum’s, or ask you to contact them at a phone number other than the following numbers: (888) 918-7313 or (800) 874-5544.

Why are you asking me to verify my activity via secure codes/tokens multiple times when I try to use Zelle®?

Zelle® will trigger a secure code delivery request only once during the Zelle® enrollment process in order to verify your identity. This verification token will by Zelle® on behalf of Quorum.

As part of Quorum’s multi-factor authentication (MFA) process, Quorum will trigger a secure code/verification request via email or SMS every time you access the Zelle® widget within the Quorum mobile app. This is an added layer of protection to ensure that no unauthorized payment activity happens in your account.

    What is Multi-Factor Authentication?

Quorum’s online banking platform uses a highly secure multi-factor authentication (MFA) process to protect your personal and financial information. We use a combination of username, password, and security codes to be sure that you are in fact, you.

Let’s take a closer look at each step of our MFA:

    1. Username: Your username is your Login ID. For the safest and most secure online banking experience, we strongly recommend that your username is something unique (not your member/account number), yet easy to remember.
    2. Password: Your password should also be unique and memorable only to you. For added security, your online banking password must have at least eight characters, at least one lowercase letter, at least one uppercase letter, and at least one number.
    3. Security Codes: These codes, delivered via email or SMS text, are designed to help verify your identity (if for instance, you are logging in from an unfamiliar device or you’ve forgotten your password).

Always being asked for secure-code delivery?

Quorum’s online banking security is industry standard and will eventually recognize a user’s device and location after consecutive successful logins using the same device and IP address. Once a user’s device and IP address is recognized (after logging in to online banking successfully on multiple occasions), the system will bypass future MFA verification to make the login experience more seamless for the user.

If you are still being prompted for your security code:

    • You are using a new device that the online banking system does not yet recognize.
    • You are using a different browser, or recently updated your browser to a newer version than the one with which you initially registered.
    • You recently cleared your browser’s cookies, which unregistered your device.
    • You have an anti-virus security package installed that automatically clears cookies. You will need to provide your security code each time you log in, or disable the cookie-clearing option in your security package.
    • You are connected to a different wi-fi network than one(s) with which you previously logged in.

In each of the circumstances above, you will be presented with secure code delivery until the network is recognized.

Not being asked for a security code and want to receive one every time you log in?

Online and mobile banking users also have the option to enable mandatory two-factor authentication for each login, which requires the user to always validate their identity through one of the two-factor authentication methods (email or SMS text), regardless if the system recognizes the user’s device and IP address. To require two-factor authentication for each login:

    1. Log in to online banking.
    2. Select your profile icon located at the top right corner of the page.
    3. Select Settings.
    4. Select the Security tab.
    5. Locate the Two-Factor Authentication section and toggle “Require Two-Factor Authentication for Each Login” to ON.
