Purchase, NY, October 9, 2024 – Three teachers recently attended the Council for Economic Education (CEE)’s 63rd Annual Financial Literacy & Economic Education Conference (the nation’s premier K-12 educator Conference for teachers who want to integrate personal finance and economics into their classrooms), thanks to the donation of Quorum Federal Credit Union. This year’s event took place in Cleveland, OH on September 27-28, 2024, where teachers learned and passed on valuable financial knowledge to their students, with sessions including: Innovative Approaches to Help Kids Learn About Money, College or Career Readiness Skills for Gen Z, Pokenomics: Gotta TRADE ‘Em All, The Economics of Sports, and The Economics of Barbie and the Film Industry.
“We’re delighted to have had the opportunity to send three dedicated teachers to CEE’s 63rd Annual Financial Literacy & Economic Education Conference,” said Jeff Pachter, President and CEO of Quorum Federal Credit Union. “Supporting educators who are committed to enhancing financial literacy is part of our mission of Banking That’s Good For You. By empowering teachers with advanced knowledge and skills, we are investing in the future of our communities. Their efforts will help students develop critical financial habits that will serve them throughout their lives and help them to navigate their financial futures confidently. We’re proud to contribute to this important cause and look forward to seeing the positive impact these educators will make.”
“The conference had numerous vendors with a plethora of financial literacy resources and learning activities valuable to educators that I plan to share with my districts and their teachers,” said scholarship winner Colette Smith of Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center in Zanesville, OH. “The Educator Sessions helped to bring everything to life and solidify ways to incorporate them to add value to student learning and their future life. I so appreciate this experience and hope that my sharing brings positive influence to the lives of students in Southeast Ohio.”
“I gained a great deal of knowledge and resources that will impact many students this year,” said Michael Lincoln of Avonworth High School, Pittsburgh, PA, another scholarship winner.
Also attending the conference was Richard Ralston, Baldwin-Whitehall School District, Pittsburgh, PA. “This is my first opportunity to attend such an event. I have been teaching 12th grade financial literacy for six years and look forward to making connections and learning new opportunities that I can share with my students.”
Over 236 people attended CEE’s conference, representing 36 states and Washington D.C.
